Almost everyone knows that some foods are not good for fitness and heart. But several researches show that junk food and some other foods can increase the risk of cancer.

This report discusses some foods that, if avoided, according to experts, will reduce your risk of cancer.

* Barbecue: Grill lovers, beware. Eating too much meat (especially, overcooked meat) is associated with an increased risk of cancer. According to health experts, cooking meat on the grill can produce carcinogenic compounds called PAHs. Burn marks on flame-broiled burgers or steaks are a sign of chemicals that are as tasty as they are bad for health. So if you regularly eat meat cooked at high temperatures, consider eating an alternative method.

* Fermented foods: Fermented foods are popular because of their beneficial bacteria supply and digestive benefits. But some preliminary research suggests that high salt in these foods may be linked to stomach cancer.

* Charcuterie: The preservation process of meats such as sausages, bacon, ham, and salami creates nitrites. Studies have shown that this compound increases the risk of colon and other cancers. For this reason, experts recommend limiting processed meat in the diet. Eat less meat preserved by smoking, salting, or curing.

* Alcoholic Beverages: Quantity is a bigger factor than quality when it comes to alcohol. Moderate to heavy alcohol consumption is strongly associated with an increased risk of cancer. For this reason, experts prohibit drinking more than one serving of alcohol.

* Red meat: Any type of red meat (eg beef, pork, lamb) increases the risk of cancer. Eating more than 18 ounces of red meat per week may increase the risk of colorectal cancer. For this reason, health experts recommend getting most of the protein in the diet from plant sources.

* Soft drinks: Although researchers are still investigating the link between sugar and cancer, high sugar intake can definitely lead to weight gain. One thing is very clear, being overweight increases the risk of cancer. For example, the more fat you have in your body, the higher your estrogen levels, and this increases your chances of developing breast cancer and reproductive tract cancer.

* Microwave Popcorn: Most microwaveable popcorn bags use a nonstick coating as a liner. Nonstick coatings contain a chemical called PFOA. Animal studies have found that this chemical increases the risk of liver, testicular and pancreatic cancer. You can eat homemade popcorn. If that’s not possible, you can eat popcorn with an alternative liner.

* Hot beverages: Studies have shown that serving beverages at 149 degrees Fahrenheit or higher increases the risk of esophageal cancer. Researchers hypothesize that high temperatures can damage tissue, making it more likely to develop cancerous lesions. Most commercial beverages are served in the 140-160°F range. So let it cool enough before drinking a hot drink.

Don’t be afraid of food:
Research data does not suggest that eating these foods occasionally will kill you. In fact, experts say, chronic poor diet habits can put you at risk. If you’re not regularly eating lean protein, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables and are instead eating foods high in fat, sugar, salt, and processed foods—then revamp your diet to stay healthy.
